Tent (Communal Drawing apparatus) is a modular installation which seeks to provide access to drawing as not only artistic medium but a fundamental mode of human life and organization. The work functions to harmonize the productive powers of collective participation with personal experience of being insulated or sheltered, putting participants into direct dialogue with ideas of drawing, access, temporality, and collective memory, and emphasizing the way these dialogues are the threads with which we weave our communal reality. It is a piece that can be ‘used’ in a certain sense, and that is what is most important.
